Level playing field

In commerce, a level playing field means that everyone usually plays by the same set of rules. The earth as we last know has about 7.2 billion living people and I strongly believe that everyone of us, loves equally, suffers equally and has fun equally (P.S. a few people that really messed up their karma must get bitten in the ass more, at-least we hope for it); But what is this crazy proposition all about? Why did I think of something like this?

Here are a few examples - starting with myself of-course (sidenote: this blog usually contains nothing but my rants!)

  • Life in general has been good to me. I was blessed with the most amazing family, I was tall at a young age, and in general never had too many problems in life. Well at-least I thought I didn't. What we one thing that I noticed that keeps happening to me? If there is anyone I love, be it my most amazing canine's or women or my one and only Moksha, they always get taken away from me. I don't know why this happens, but I have no logic other than the fact that life decided to make it a level playing field for me!
  • Now, to move away from the rants, how many people do we know that go to the gym everyday and are unhappy about their weight? They constantly worry and usually watch every ounce they eat. They are probably from a middle to upper-middle class families that can afford to buy good staple food yet. On the contrasting end, how many people do we know from the lower income groups are extremely fit and they generally never watch what they eat? neither do they go the gym's but they probably and most certainly have money woes. Again, level playing field.
It's pretty clear where I am going with this; I have tons of examples full of ironies that life throws at us! From warren buffet to my security guy, we probably all are equally blessed and equally cursed. We should just hope that, when life throws us curveballs, we should try and knock them out of the park; but if you end up striking out, just say "hey that's life!"
